The owners of Binion Bay Caravan Park Ian & Christina recently organised a day of events for the residents of the caravan park which included a hill walk from the Caravan site up over Binion Hill and a ‘hooley’ in the marquee which was specially setup for the evening which included entertainment from local musicians.
First things first! The group set off on their 3 hour hill walk ramble around 9.30am, it was a brisk June morning and Ian led the way looking like ‘Bear Grylls’ just before an expedition.
There was a large group of around 12 walkers who headed out in good spirits for a day of walking, stunning views and of course great craic along the way.
As the group made their way slowly up Binion Hill, great views could be enjoyed overlooking the caravan site. You could even see the huge marquee that site owner Ian had spent hours setting up the previous evening.
It took just over an hour to reach the peak of Binion Hill, but it was totally worth it as the breath-taking views over Tullagh Bay and Dunaff were a sight to behold. Even though it wasn’t the clearest of mornings you could still see for miles into the distance from all directions.
Then it was time for lunch. We ate our little food bags and drank from our flasks whilst being entertained with one liners from the two group comedians, Danny and Neil Snr.
Scout leader Ian then lead all the walkers all the way around the back of Ballyliffin, across Ballyliffin Strand and on to the old fort where the tired walkers where picked up in a warm mini-bus which took us all back to the site some 3 hours later!
It was time to shower and then we all met in the Marquee later that night. The craic was ninety after the big BBQ as we sang and danced the night away!
Keep an eye on this website and our Facebook for more of these upcoming events.
